Input

Hand–wrist radiograph with verified age, sex and laterality. Standard bone-age assessment uses the left hand.

Output

Estimated bone age, chronological-age comparison, normal-range context and a structured report for review.

Visual reference

Hand skeleton map with finger, metacarpal and phalangeal landmarks.

From image to structured output

A clearer view of skeletal maturity.

01 / ESTIMATE

Bone age in years and months

Review the AI-assisted estimate on the Greulich–Pyle scale with the original hand–wrist image.

02 / COMPARISON

Age difference in context

Compare estimated bone age with chronological age, supported by the report’s age-reference chart.

03 / REFERENCE

Normal range and SD score

Review the reported normal range and standard-deviation score against the stated reference population.

04 / REPORT

A structured review document

Bring the estimate, impression, hand map and reference-hand comparison together for clinician review.

Age-reference context uses healthy US children. Reference-hand images in the report are from the USC Digital Hand Atlas and are distinct from Greulich–Pyle atlas plates. Clinical applicability must be assessed for the individual patient.

How it fits

From hand X-ray
to reviewed report.

01 / VERIFY THE STUDY

Confirm image and demographics

Check the hand–wrist view, laterality, chronological age and sex before assessing the output.

02 / REVIEW THE ANALYSIS

Read estimate and visual context

Review the bone-age estimate, reference range and uncertainty alongside the image and hand skeleton map.

03 / FINALISE THE REPORT

Apply clinical judgment

Confirm applicability, correlate with the clinical history and complete the final interpretation.

Common questions

About Bone Age AI.

What does Bone Age AI assess?

It supports skeletal maturity assessment from a hand–wrist radiograph. The supplied report includes estimated bone age, chronological-age comparison, age-reference context, a hand skeleton map and reference-hand images.

Are the website visual and values a live result?

No. The hand map is a recreated website illustration based on the supplied example. Displayed ages are illustrative. The controls change the overlay only; this page does not analyse uploaded X-rays.

What do the hand-map lines and dots represent?

The paths connect finger and metacarpal landmarks. Dots identify joints and endpoints. Labels distinguish digits I–V and the metacarpal and phalangeal segments; they do not represent a separate bone-age estimate for each bone.

Does this replace radiologist review?

No. The output requires source-image verification and clinical correlation. The clinician remains responsible for the final interpretation, including any pathology visible on the radiograph.

How can we evaluate it for our organisation?
